Gordon Angus Dougherty, "Dad", was born January 1st, 1934 on his family's Rowletta/Lake Valley farm to Ada and Angus Dougherty. He was the second youngest of 8 children. Gordon married Marguerite (Gerris) on August 7th, 1953, celebrating 64 years of marriage. Mom and Dad, Marguerite and Gordon, shared a wonderful life together, first on the family farm and then moving to Mortlach, SK where they raised their four children: Michael, Judy, Gary, and Marilyn. Later they moved to Moose Jaw and wintered in Palm Springs and Mesa. Dad's (Grandpa, GG's) greatest love was his family. Dad was so proud of all of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and was always interested in everything they did. Coaching or spectating, Dad enjoyed spending his time watching or cheering on the children. Dad (Grandpa, GG) was our No. 1 fan. Dad was a farmer at heart, and had a great love of the land. His enthusiasm for watching the prairie spring to life was evident to everyone, as he continued gardening well into his retirement. We all savoured a bucket of tomatoes, cucumbers and corn arriving on our doorstep. Dad enjoyed driving throughout the countryside checking the crops. Dad was always very active. From a young age he enjoyed playing baseball, community sports days, hockey, curling, golfing, tennis, and many other sports. Dad and Mom loved to travel. Family holidays were enjoyed travelling many times to Disney, fishing and camping trips, as well as skiing. They loved driving holidays, and drove many times across eastern and western Canada. They also explored most of North America, Alaska to Florida, taking in the different country sights. Dad enjoyed connecting with friends through cards, dancing, travelling, and getting together for laughs and conversation. If you needed a partner for cards, tennis, or dancing, Dad was the guy to call. In Dad's words: "Marguerite and I had a wonderful life. We have a wonderful family".  Our family would like to thank Dr. Vermaak for his loving care of our Dad, Grandpa, and GG. A Memorial Celebration of Gordon’s Life will be held on Saturday, June 9th, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Apostolic Church, 1550 Main St N, Moose Jaw, SK. Pastor Marvin Seaborg will officiate and a gathering of family and friends will follow in the Church Auditorium. Flowers are gratefully declined.  As an expression of sympathy, donations in Gordon’s name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre St, Regina, SK S4P 2R3
