It was remarkable, to say the least.  The 12th Annual 800 CHAB Family First Radiothon met and exceeded our goal of $125,000.  Oh, ya, when all was said and done and the dust was still settling, we put $209,856 up on the board.

There were some most significant contributions from a number of local service clubs, businesses and organizations and some wonderful gifts from individuals and families.

The estate of Al and Bernice Fox made one, final gift to the Radiothon.  It was a $75,000 endowment.  In total, Al and Bernice donated over $500,000 to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation over the years.

We also got a nice surprise on Friday afternoon from a local man by the name of Cecil Smith.  He and his wife already have their names on the donor wall at the Dr. Wigmore Regional Hospital but Cecil recently lost his wife.  He wanted to make one more donation in her memory.  He came in and wrote a cheque for $18,452.

Cecil told me he's done everything he wanted to do and he's gone everywhere he wanted to go.  He's had a good life, he told me, and he just wanted to do his part to make life better for others.  He did that.
