It was a number one hit in 1978 - "Three Times a Lady" by The Commodores. It's a pretty good song. However, it's one of those songs I've heard enough. Like, if I never heard it again, that'd be OK.
It goes back to '78 when I was in grade 8. One of the girls that hung around in my circle of friends LOVED that song. She carried the 45 around with her all summer. She put it on our record player one day and played it over and over and over again. I remember my Mom being irritated. She asked if we might consider playing another record.
Did you have one of those songs on 45 that you played over and over? I'm guilty. "Nowhere Man", "Red Rubber Ball" and "Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head" are three that come to mind. I'll bet my Mom got tired of those songs, too. And, it's funny, I still love all of those songs.
Music sparks memories and that's just one of the reasons we like it so much. Like we say at 800 CHAB, "It's the music you remember from the station that never forgets...."
