Homework....in the news this week after a Montreal elementary school made some changes, asking teachers to stop giving the students homework.  The goal is to get the work done during class time and encourage families to be active, eat well and make sure the kids get enough sleep.

This Montreal school made the move in November and the principal says while it's too early to come to any conclusions, he has noticed a more relaxed vibe around the school.

Some parents are skeptical and some of them want their kids to do some homework in preparation for high school and college.

I'm thinking back to all the hours I spent doing homework - in my bedroom at my desk when I knew what I was doing and at the kitchen table when I needed assistance from my Dad.  I suppose it was time well-spent but I clearly remember the tension between my Dad and I when he tried to help me with math and science.  We could have lived without that.

Yes, we could have lived without homework.  My Dad would have enjoyed the more "relaxed vibe."
