I'm not exactly what you'd call a fan of Halloween but, I'm most certainly a part of the statistics. I do buy candy and I do dish it out to the kids if they come to my door.
A new survey shows 44% of Canadians say Halloween is their favourite "holiday". I know it's not a holiday but apparently some think it is.
Those who celebrate will spend "upwards" of $60 on a costume according to the Value Village survey.
64% of us will buy and hand out candy on Halloween night and that's up from 50% just four years ago. We'll spend an average of $42 on that candy.
Also worth noting? Canadians spend an average of $43 on decorations and $55 on alcohol. You see where this is going?
Canadians aged 18 to 34 spend the most on Halloween. In fact, we're spending more per capita on Halloween than our American friends.
The only celebration we spend more on in Canada is Christmas.
