The good folks who grow our beef and pork aren't exactly pleased and one can understand why.  

Canada's revamped "Food Guide" is encouraging more of a plant-based diet with lower meat intake.  Health Canada is working on the final draft as we speak.

The new guide will tell us to cut back on sugar and to consume better fats.  Health Canada tells us they're looking at the latest research and consulting with various stakeholders.

I see some dieticians believe we should have less milk and meat and then a researcher calls for more fermented foods like sauerkraut.

There's some controversy because our meat and dairy industries are concerned that they haven't been consulted adequately.

You know, I've spent some time asking really old people about the keys to their longevity.  They've all told me about their "balanced diets."  They eat a variety of foods in moderation.  That's MY food guide right there.  I don't really think we need the federal government telling us what to eat, do you?
