I see Boler trailer enthusiasts are celebrating this weekend. The cute, little Manitoba-manufactured campers have been around for 50 years now. Some people love their Bolers so much they hit the road with matching paint jobs on their trucks and trailers.
It reminds me of an encounter I had with the Good Sams. It's a popular RV club.
It was years ago on a golf trip. I had a cabin at a campground. Two elderly ladies walked through my spot late one afternoon and I greeted them with a friendly "Hello". It was awkward. They seemed stand-offish. I said "How's it going?"
One lady spoke up, "Well, we're fine", she said.
I said "What's happening tonight?" I wasn't asking her for a date - I was just wondering if there were any activities.
She says, matter-of-factly, "Well, we're with the Good Sams. WE'LL be having a campfire."
I could tell by her tone and her facial expression that I wouldn't be welcome. I didn't have a camper - I wouldn't fit in. I'll never know how much fun they had at that campfire. Never.
