It's never what anyone expects, but when it happens, the Ronald McDonald House is there for families, some from right in our community. Moose Jaw family Natalia Cabrero-Lafrenie and Derek Lafrenie and their daughters have spent over 400 nights staying at the Ronald McDonald house. It all started when their daughter Maria was born with a congenital heart defect and her organs all on the opposite side of her body. Maria has been through 4 surgeries including open heart surgery and the Ronald McDonald House has been there for the family every step of the way.

Maria's father, Derek told us "One day you're ironing your shirt and the next thing you know, your child is sick and you're staying at the Ronald McDonald House." The comfort and affordability of the Ronald McDonald house has helped countless families and Wednesday YOU can help support Ronald McDonald House with McHappy Day! Simply stop by McDonalds and purchase a Big Mac, Happy Meal, or any hot McCafe beverage and $1 from every purchase will be donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Maria's journey isn't over, but she is a happy 2 year old, and you can help families like this with your donation. Maria's mom shared this video with us: is Moose Jaw's only source for community news and information such as weather and classifieds.
