Did you know, according to The Canadian Literacy and Learning Network, 42% of Canadian adults between the ages of 16 adn 65 have low literacy skills?  Also, less than 20% of people with the lowest literacy skills have jobs.  Those are the cold, hard facts.

Local educators are trying to turn that around and they're starting with the little ones.  On Friday, National Family Literacy Day, Moose Jaw's Sunningdale School hosted a number of local celebrities from authors, reporters, police officers and radio personalities at a special Literacy Day event.

CHAB's Rob Carnie talked to the grade ones and twos about how to "write for radio" - getting to the point quickly, saying what you have to say and moving on.

Listen for some of the kids on the 800 CHAB Morning Show on Monday!

Here's Carnie wtih Mrs. Ubell's class.  They listened to a real newscast from 800 CHAB and discussed the stories.
