Billets are a vital part of any hockey program, as it is the foundation of the success of young athletes giving them a sense of family while playing away from their home.

Ahead of the start to their 2022-23 Saskatchewan Male AAA Hockey League season, the Moose Jaw U18 AAA Warriors are looking for families to open up their homes and billets for the upcoming season.

“What we're looking for is Moose Jaw families that have the ability or the space to house young hockey players,” Warriors GM Patrick Boyle said. “When we say hockey is a family that's what we’re looking for is somewhere for these young men to go and be a part of their family, contribute to their household, and at the same time try to advance their hockey and academic careers in Moose Jaw.”

Boyle adds that the team is looking for seven to eight more families to house players.

“Most of these billet families that we engage with, and the boys go into their homes, they turn into these long-lasting relationships.”

Billet families will be there to provide support for players with meals, and a family-like structure to give players comparability through a very grueling hockey schedule.

Becoming a billet family does come with some perks as well, such as free admission to the games, a monthly billet fee, and long-lasting relationships.

Those that are interested in becoming a billet for the upcoming season are asked to send an email to manageraaawarriors@gmail.com.
