If you haven’t gotten your Christmas tree yet, well the Rotary Club of Moose Jaw Wakamow has you covered and can help you choose the perfect tree this holiday season.

They are happy to announce their annual Christmas Tree Sale is back, as it kicks off on Thursday at 3:00 p.m., and is set up at Moose Jaw’s downtown Co-op (500 1st Ave NW).

“We’ve got premium Christmas trees. Premium Balsam Fir, Fraser Fir, and White Spruce,” says Glenn Hagel, Moose Jaw Wakamow Rotary Club member. “They’re excellent trees that by purchasing, people can make a difference in their community.”

Hagel adds that the price will vary depending on the type and height of each tree, but a full list of the costs is provided at the tree stand.

The Rotary Club offloaded their first shipment of Christmas trees to their compound on Tuesday.

The tree sale will last until the middle of December, but Hagel says people may want to get their tree secured soon before that.

“In the last few years, our trees have been selling out early so I encourage people to get there early. The sooner you come the greater the selection you have. As the tree sale goes on, what’s available and the heights that are available begin to decline.”

The tree stand will be operational seven days a week. Monday-Friday the tree stand will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

For those kids that want to see Santa Claus and give him their finalized Christmas list, well they’re in luck.

“We’re getting a special visitor on Dec. 3. Santa will be there from 1-3 p.m., to take pictures with families, kids, and people. Sometimes they like to have a picture with Santa with the family and the Christmas tree they just bought.”

Hagel has manned the tree stand for several years and each time he is amazed at the community support that is given for their sale.

“We have a good number of people that are regulars, they are just in the Christmas spirit and know they get a good Christmas tree. The wonderful thing about working there is everyone that comes is in the Christmas spirit and it’s a great place to be.”

The volunteers that will be working the stand will offer tree-care tips as well, which involve trimming off the final inch or so of the tree’s base. That is one of the important parts of keeping your real tree fresh longer. The newly exposed base will consume much more water.

The trees on display to be purchased are all Canadian grown and come from here in Saskatchewan and Quebec.

All the profits that come from the tree sale will go towards making a difference in the community and internationally.

“Here in Moose Jaw, its youth, education, hunger, and health. Internationally, we support Rotary’s project to rid the world of polio of course and we’re very involved in education in Guatemala.”

The Moose Jaw Wakamow Rotary Club has or currently is supporting 20 organizations within the City of Moose Jaw.
