Farmers should be out scouting their fields for any potential insect problems.

Scott Hartley is the Provincial Insect Specialist with Sask Ag and Food.   He says right now farmers should be looking for signs of wheat midge damage.

In the Southeast the Alfalfa Weevil has been a problem while the Cabbage Seed Pod Weevil posed problems in the Southwest.  Canola producers in all areas of the province should be watching for bertha army worms in the next week or so.

Hartley says we could also start seeing some damage now from the wheat stem sawfly .
