This week the Moose Jaw Warriors announced contract extensions for their entire hockey operations department.

That included Head Coach Tim Hunter.

Hunter, who played in the National Hockey League for 16 seasons, has been the bench boss in Moose Jaw since 2014.

"We're in this for the long haul," said Hunter.  "It's a real commitment from the (Warriors) Board for them to extend Alan (Millar, Warriors General Manager) and for Alan to extend me.

The Warriors are coming off one of their most successful regular seasons in franchise history (93 points in 2016-17 - the record is 98 points in 2011-12), but a disappointing playoff finish as they lost in the first round to Swift Current.

Hunter says next season should be special.

"Our best team..out of the three years I've been here...will ne next year," he stated. "We've got a lot of work to do, some pieces to add and a little work on our culture change. It's going to be exciting."

No contract details were released.
