Palliser MP Dave Batters says this is the normal process for federal funding despite telling us in March the announcement would come six weeks after the federal budget.

The federal budget was presented back in mid-March and in the days that followed Moose Jaw was told we would learn how much money to Multiplex project would receive from Ottawa 6 weeks later.

Well it's now 6 weeks later and no announcement, no commitment. Palliser MP Dave Batters was the one who told us it would be 6 weeks so we gave him a call.

"Originally I had been advised that the budget infrastructure funding criteria would go through Cabinet in April and its my understanding that this hasn't happened yet but I am encouraged that it will happen in the near future... we must be patient while this funding flows through the normal Cabinet approval process."

Batters believes Moose Jaw will receive cash from Ottawa for the project and the delay is no indication that the funding has been rejected.

Moose Jaw Mayor Dale McBain says waiting on the feds is normal and they've come to expect it at City Hall. "Usually what happens is things are announced in the budget, it flows through he bureaucrats, they contact the province and decide how they're going to distribute the money, and then they let the rest of us know. That the process that's gone on and I think that's the delay right now."
