The buses have been parked for months now and next week those buses will be turned over to the winning bidders.  STC's assets are being sold.  The coaches, the vans, the desks and computers...everything.

I remember the days when many of us actually used our government-owned transportation system.  I remember, not long after moving to Moose Jaw in 1973, Friday night trips back to Regina to see friends and family and Sunday night trips back to The Jaw.  It would be standing room only.

I also clearly remember the trips I took in the mid-80s, coming home from North Battleford, where I took my first radio job.  To drive that on your own takes about 4 hours.  It took 6 hours on the bus.  We'd pull into every town along the way to see if there was a package or a person waiting for the bus.  Oh, and there was NO SMOKING....in the first seven rows!

Oh, how I remember those trips.  I don't remember them fondly.  Rest in peace, STC.  I'm glad I didn't have to use you after 1986.
