The Western Hockey Leagues Moose Jaw Warriors are preparing for a pair of home games this weekend at the Hangar. They will be hosting the central division's Red Deer Rebels on Friday night and then the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Saturday. Both games are at 7:00 p.m. and all the live play-by-play coverage can be found on Country 100.

Moose Jaw's Winmar AAA Warriors were able to snap a three-game losing streak last night with a 5-3 win over the Estevan Bears at the Moose Jaw Events Centre. Yorkton's Grady Hoffman finished the game with two goals  - including the game-winner.

"We couldn’t have asked for a better start, and we built off that and then our game spoke for itself,” says Hoffman following the win on Wednesday.

“It feels great to snap that three-game losing streak and now getting back on the upswing now,” adds Hoffman.

The Warriors will host a pair of home games on Saturday and Sunday against the Saskatoon Blazers, with a 1:30 start on both days.

Curlers took to the Moose Jaw Curling Centre on Wednesday night for their first cash league draws of the season. Froehlich beat Montgomery 5-3, it was EMJ Marketing with an 8-6 win over Protec Studios, BTN over RK Sunview Farms, KMS took a 6-4 decision over Silk, and John's Music won 11-3 against Protec Electric.

From the ice to the volleyball court, both senior boys and girls were in action last night. In the girl's action, it was Central over Vanier 3 sets to 2. Over to the boys Vanier swept Central, while Assiniboia did the same to Cornerstone, and Peacock took the win over Avonlea 3 sets to 1.

And to the NHL... The Calgary Flames open their season against the Colorado Avalanche, the Leafs play the Washington Capitals, and the Ottawa Senators battle the Buffalo Sabres.
