The 2023 Badminton Districts took place over the weekend in Moose Jaw.

The Senior District Champions are: Ike Wong - from Briercrest won the Senior Boys Singles. Kiana Hrechka from Cornerstone won the Senior Girls Singles. Cayden Tsoi & Boscoe Yiu from Briercrest won the Senior Boys Doubles. Sophie Simonsen & Miyah Tucker-Bellaire from Gravelbourg won the Senior Girls Doubles and Chase Faris & Cara Faris from Rouleau won the Senior Mixed Doubles.

The Bantam District Champions are: Micah Salido-Porter from Central won in Boys Singles. Tara Nguyen from Central won the Girls Singles. Wyatt Fleet & Brydon Faris won Boys Doubles. MC from Gravelbourg won Girls Doubles and Addyson Okarincee & Owen Okraincee from Glentworth won Mixed Doubles.

2023 Badminton play now shifts to Regionals this weekend in Regina at Campbell.

In the WHL Eastern Conference, the Winnipeg ICE shut out the Saskatoon Blades 2-0 at home in the first two games. Game three, in Saskatoon, is set for tomorrow at 7 p.m. Sask Time.

In the Western Conference, the Kamloops Blazers are down 2-0 heading into game three against the Seattle Thunderbirds tomorrow night at 6 Sask Time.

In the NHL, the Boston Bruins dropped a three-game lead to the Florida Panthers who went on to win the series in overtime 4-3 last night.

The Kraken also edged out the Avalanche 2-1 on Sunday to advance to the second round.

The final first-round series of the NHL playoffs will conclude tonight as the Devils host the Rangers in game seven at 6 p.m. Sask time.

Sticking with the NHL, some call it "once in a generation" as the Toronto Maple Leafs won their first playoff series in 19 years by taking down the Lightning in overtime of game six. The Leafs will host the Panthers tomorrow night at 5 p.m.

The Seattle Mariners edged out the Toronto Blue Jays 10-8 yesterday. The Jays are at Fenway for a date with the Red Sox this afternoon. The first pitch is set for 5:10.
