It was a bittersweet night for the Moose Jaw Miller Express on Thursday, as their eight-game win streak was snapped by the Sylvan Lake Gulls by a score of 9-5.

Zach Campbell, went three-for-five at the plate with an RBI, while Cam Grant drove in a run and added three hits of his own, and Nate Mensik had two RBIs in the loss and two hits. Moose Jaw will look for revenge on Friday night in the rematch with the Gulls at 7:05 p.m.

The Moose Jaw Minor Baseball Association is hosting the 18U AA provincials this weekend at Ross Wells Park and Blackwell Diamond.  Games start this afternoon with the host Moose Jaw Canucks opening up their tournament tonight at Ross Wells, 8 o'clock vs. Carnduff Astros.

Marek Howell and Lynden Lakovic put together strong performances at Hockey Canada’s national under-17 development camp in Calgary.

Howell had a solid showing at the offensive end with two goals and three points in four games, including the game-winning goal for Team Gold in a 3-2 win over Team Black. Lakovic had one assist in four games for Team Gold.

Brayden Yager and Jackson Unger will be hitting the ice for Hockey Canada’s under-18 selection camp this week, looking to secure spots with Team Canada for the Hlinka Gretzky Cup later this month in Red Deer, AB.

Coming up this weekend, Jagger Firkus and Denton Mateychuk will take part in the 2022-23 national junior team summer camp in Calgary.
