A strong system is moving through the province which has prompted a severe thunderstorm watch for the city of Moose Jaw and Surrounding RMs.

Environment Canada states that conditions could produce unfavourable conditions such as damaging wind gusts and hail, along with heavy rain.

Multiple severe thunderstorms are being reported in the south western portion of the province moving eastward and could bring with them nickle sized hail, and wind gusting to 110km/h.

Environment Canad posted to their website that with severe thunderstorms the development of more serious conditions could be possible.

"Very large hail can damage property, break windows, dent vehicles and cause serious injury. Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes.

Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall."
