The Prairie South Division lost 300 students over the last year and that has raised the concern of school closures.

With declining enrollment affecting local schools there's been a lot of rumors floating around about some schools in Moose Jaw being closed next year. Ecole Ross School and Central Collegiate are at the centre of the coffee shop talk.

We got in touch with the Prairie South School Board Chair to investigate the "stories" here in Moose Jaw and the questions being asked.

Gord Stewart tells us there's nothing to the rumors. "People speculate on those sorts of things I guess. The answer is just flat out no. We have not talked about closing any school. We've never and that has not been part of our discussions yet."

Stewart says a report on facilities is expected to be presented at their next board meeting on October 3rd from there they will look at their options.
