Good news for Assiniboia residents as their rubber recycling plant is back up and running after the old owner folded up shop.

Some good news out of Assiniboia on the heels of the civic election.

Assiniboia Rubber Recycling has officially taken over Prairie Rubber Corporation thanks to some local people investing in it.

Ted Hillstead is President of Assiniboia Rubber Recycling and already has about 30 people back to work thanks to making new products for new markets. "We're not as reliant any more on the US/Canadian exchange. The business model allows a lot more flexibility to maneuver with in the field and makes the different types of products far more attractive and profitable."

Assiniboia Rubber recycles tires and, the crumb rubber will be used in producing artificial playing surfaces for playgrounds and sports playing fields.
