The Regina Police Service took a 13-year-old female into custody on Friday morning, after bringing a firearm into a high school.

Information from the RPS states that on Friday, at approximately 9:15 a.m., police were notified of a youth at F.W. Johnson Collegiate with a firearm.

Information received was that a youth pointed the firearm at a staff member, and then left. The school was put into lockdown. Six other schools in the area were placed in the Secure-the-Building protocol.

More than a dozen police officers arrived at the school and secured the area. Officers cleared the building and it was determined the female suspect was no longer inside. The investigation led police to a residence on the 1300 block of Fleet Street and, just before 11:30 a.m., two youths were arrested there.

Officers located the firearm believed to have been used in this event and determined it to be an Airsoft firearm.

The female will be charged related to this incident and further updates will be released in the coming days related to the charges and the investigation.
