For the first time since 2018, the iconic RCMP Musical Ride is returning to Moose Jaw and the timing couldn’t be better.

The musical ride performances this year will be a part of the Hometown Fair festivities over at the Moose Jaw Exhibition Grounds.

“We're very pleased to have them attending this year and, in conjunction with the hometown fair, it should be a good show,” said Moose Jaw Exhibition Company general manager George Fowler.

The shows will take place on Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 3 and 8 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m. All of the shows will be at the West Ring Arena.

The Musical Ride consists of up to 32 riders, who are all RCMP officers, that perform formations and drills all on horseback set to music. The show generally lasts about 30 minutes.

“Long as all the horses and people stay healthy, I think they'll be using a 24-person group of riders and they have four spares that they keep in case of an injury or soreness or injured riders,” Fowler said.

Because the Musical Ride is part of the fair this year, the show is included with gate admission to the Hometown Fair. Admission is $15 per day for adults, $10 per day for students and seniors and free for children six years of age or younger.
