Two local girls are waking up in their nice warm beds today after being pulled from frigid water Thursday night when they fell through some ice.

A scary evening for a couple young Moose Jaw girls after they fell through some ice and into a stream on the east side of the city.

Around 6:30 Thursday night police responded to a distress call on 10th and Oxford Street east to a report of someone falling through the ice. Constable Stuart Beselt was the first person on scene and pulled the girls from the frigid water. An 11-year-old girl was taken to hospital by Moose Jaw and District EMS and treated. The other girl was not injured and went home.

Police would like to remind everyone that spring thaw is underway and all ice surfaces are thin on all bodies of water at this time of the year.
