Motif, Moose Jaw’s multicultural festival, will not be happening this year. 

According to a post on their Facebook page, organizers were in lockdown when decisions had to be made regarding funding and grants for the festival. 

As well, Sidewalk Days has moved to Motif’s traditional weekend due to Canada Day being on a Friday. 

“Motif is put on by small ethnic groups that simply can’t compete with an event like Sidewalk Days,” the post says. 

While Motif did take place in 2019, the festival was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
