Everyone in Moose Jaw is familiar with the cuddly pets at the Moose Jaw Humane Society (MJHS).

The MJHS is looking to work with the community to raise funds for the animals in their care.

The organization is currently hosting a 50/50 raffle with a total jackpot of $2500.

"The raffle started a month ago and the date upcoming is coming real quick, it's on Wednesday, August 31st. Tickets are one for $10 or three for $20," says Donna Fritzke the Fundraiser Coordinator for the Moose Jaw Humane Society. "We're only selling 500 tickets and there are quite a few tickets left to sell. All the money goes towards the shelter and helping to care for our community's homeless pets."

Tickets for the 50/50 raffle can be bought online through the MJHS website or by visiting the MJHS on Stadacona Street west during their office hours.

Not long after the raffle finishes, the MJHS will be hosting an online auction and their still looking for donated items.

"We are looking for items to auction off. Our auction starts on September 13th and we will be auctioning off 50 items every week for the next 5 weeks," says Fritzke.

The MJHS has been receiving mostly crocheted, knitted, or quilted items and is looking for any other creative donations to include in the auction.

People can donate items to the auction by calling the shelter at 306-692-1517.

There isn't a specific deadline for when auction items need to be donated but Fritzke says they would prefer to have all the auction items before the start date of September 13th.

"It's on Facebook (The MJPS Facebook page), it starting at 10 o'clock on that day and then the highest bid will be chosen on Saturday at noon and then we continue that for 5 weeks. It's a lot of fun," says Fritzke.
