The Moose Jaw & District Food Bank received a large donation on Friday, as the Moose Jaw Co-op officially wrapped up its Good Buy to Hunger campaign.

Several local firefighters and Co-op employees were on hand to help load nine pallets of food, which amounted to roughly $11,000 worth of donations. The food was loaded onto a trailer that was provided by Ottawa Real Estate.

"We know that the need is great for the food bank, so we just want to do our part to help when we can," said Michaela Turner, with the Co-op. "We had a lot of great donations from our members and customers at the cashier tills in our Food Store, as well as great business support, so we're very pleased with how things went this year for sure."

Turner says while the majority of the food was delivered on Friday, they will still be accepting donations at the till right up until Christmas Eve.

The Good Buy to Hunger campaign is held in conjunction with Golden West Radio and the CP Holiday Train, which visited Moose Jaw back on December 6.
