Kathie Cassidy was one of 150 teachers at Microsoft's Worldwide Innovative Teacher's Forum.

She's been a teacher for 15 years and was recently recognized for using technology in innovative ways to improve student learning in her classroom.

Kathie Cassidy teaches first grade at Westmount Elementary School here in Moose Jaw. She created a web page that supports reading skills and using the technology her students write on blogs and make podcasts of themselves reading their writing.

Cassidy was one of five Canadian teachers honoured at Microsoft's Innovative Teachers Forum in Philadelphia earlier this month. "It was a fabulous experience! They treated us like royalty, we were in a lovely hotel, we had wonderful meals, the was a gala event, and it was an overwhelmingly wonderful experience!"

Over 150 teachers took part in the event.
