Saskatchewan's Lieutenant Governor Russ Mirasty was in Moose Jaw Wednesday, to present local recipients with Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medals.

Mirasty joined Moose Jaw Mayor Clive Tolley at City Hall to present the medals.

The Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal was created to celebrate the 70th anniversary year of the late Queen's Accession to the Throne, which began on February 6, 2022.

A total of 7,000 medals are being awarded at ceremonies held throughout the province.

Shant Kahvedjian - For his outstanding service and citizenship in the field of military services
Renee Wilkinson - For her outstanding service and citizenship in the field of Public Servant for National Defence
Andre Bouvier - For his outstanding service and citizenship in the field of bravery
Arthur Watson - For his outstanding service and citizenship in the field of volunteerism
Marv Macauley - For his outstanding service and citizenship in the field of military
Ted Moir - For his outstanding service and citizenship in the field of volunteerism
Rion White - For his outstanding service and citizenship in the field of arts
Lucille Gilliland - For her outstanding service and citizenship in the field of Early Childhood Education

Wayne Cameron and Carolyn Scidmore were not able to attend the ceremony and will be presented with medals at a later date.
