Janet Louise Lerfold (nee Greene)

Janet was born on July 21, 1948, in Moose Jaw, SK to parents Douglas and Margaret (nee McKenzie) Greene.  There, she completed high school at Riverview Collegiate.  In 1969, she moved to Calgary and began working at the Foothills Hospital, followed by a move to Prince Albert in 1971 which she had called home ever since.

In 2016 she became an active member of the condo association where she was living.   Janet worked for Co-Operators Insurance until her retirement.  She held a special place in her heart for her two grandchildren, Coleton and Kennedy and her love of children inspired her to open a home daycare.   Janet’s love of summer allowed her to enjoy planting flowers and grooming her tomato plants.  She could be found relishing time spent on her deck at her hideaway at Ambrose Trailer Park at Emma Lake.  Janet cherished the friendships she had with her three best friends, and these special relationships continued to grow over the past 50 years.  Her infectious laugh, wit and sarcastic sense of humor will be greatly missed.

Janet passed away peacefully on March 23rd surrounded by her family and friends.  She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Danielle (Jay Weixl) Brown; her grandchildren, Coleton and Kennedy Brown; her sister, Bonnie (John) Spice; and her nephews, Shane and Chad Spice.  She was predeceased by her daughter, Ashley Lerfold; her parents, Douglas and Margaret Greene; her sister, Toni Greene; and her brother, Jim Greene.

A Celebration of Janet’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Plaza 88, 888 Central Avenue, Prince Albert, SK.  She will be laid to rest beside her daughter Ashley in Prince Albert Memorial Gardens at a later date.  In lieu of other tributes, donations in memory of Janet may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 100 - 119 14th Street NW, Calgary, AB T2N 1Z6.
