The Hustlers opened up the Moose Jaw Senior Ladies Fastball League semifinal with a dominating performance on Wednesday night, as they beat the Heat, 12-3, to take Game 1 of the best-of-three series.

The Hustlers started strong with four runs in the first inning and they never gave the Heat a chance to get back into the game, adding another run in the second, four more in the fourth and finishing with three in the sixth.

Hustlers pitcher Rachelle Grado struck out one, while allowing three runs on 10 hits over six innings of work. She also helped herself by going 3-for-4 with two runs scored, an RBI and a walk at the plate.

Krissy Russo was 4-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored in the win, while Tanya McLean had a triple and scored two runs for the Hustlers.

Megan Auger got the start for the Heat and allowed nine runs on 12 hits, while striking out one.

At the plate, Kimberley Michelson was 2-for-4 with two runs scored out of the lead-off spot. Jen Weiss had a two-run double in the fifth inning for the Heat.

Game 2 of the series was scheduled to be played on Thursday night, but has been cancelled with the Hustlers advancing to the final, which will begin on Monday against the Colts.
