The 7th annual "Toy Days" wrapped up this past weekend at Canadian Tire in Moose Jaw. Each year Golden West Radio partners with Canadian Tire and the Salvation Army to get as many toy donations as possible to help families in need and thanks to the generosity of our community, 3 bins were filled to the top with toy donations in 2021.

Ross Leckie, Owner of Canadian Tire in Moose Jaw said "I think we got it all for everybody, hopefully, we got enough to take care of all the kids." Canadian Tire hosts the event each year asking the community to bring donations from anywhere, the toys don't need to be purchased at Canadian Tire, they just want to help as many families as possible. Each of those toys will go to a child in need this Christmas with help from the Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army helps numerous families in the Moose Jaw area each Christmas and this year Lieutenant Lester Ward tells us there is a big need in the community: "We noticed this year that the need is rising... Right now with our hamper applications, we're already seeing an increase in the need compared to the same period last year."

The interview process to receive a hamper from the Salvation Army for Christmas is in its final week and underway right now. For any families needing a hand this Christmas season, there is no appointment necessary, individuals can stop by the Community and Family Services department of the Salvation Army, located at 175 1st Ave NE.

Now that all the toys have been collected, the Salvation Army will set up a shop and allow parents who are part of the hamper program to come and pick out toys for their children to open on Christmas morning.

Lieutenant Ward passes his thanks along to everyone involved "Thank you to Golden West Radio for their support and Canadian Tire... We're so appreciative of the folks who come alongside the Salvation Army here in Moose Jaw and join in this journey, we could not do this on our own... We'd like to express a heartfelt thanks to all involved."
