The ongoing negotiations for a new contract for the Moose Jaw Fire Fighters Association will have to wait until March.

The City of Moose Jaw and the local Firefighters Association are now preparing to go to binding arbitration as they continue to negotiate a new contract.

City Manager Gary McKay tells us arbitration should begin in March something he calls a little disappointing, as he would have liked to resolve the situation this year. "It is but it is part of the process that it does take considerable time. Some of the players are the same in other arbitrations so their efforts leading up to Christmas will be on other arbitrations and we're just on the queue until early next year."

The local firefighters have been without a contract for nearly 2 years. Binding arbitration is their last option as they have a "no strike" clause in their contract.
