Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued an extreme cold warning for Moose Jaw and the surrounding area this evening.

Very cold windchills in the range of minus-40 to minus-45 are expected this evening and into Wednesday morning.

Environment Canada says a high-pressure system is heading into southern Saskatchewan, causing clear skies but cold arctic air.

The conditions are expected to improve by Wednesday afternoon as warmer moves back into the region.

Environment Canada is reminding folks to cover up, as frostbite can set in within minutes on exposed skin during these extremely cold temperatures.

As well, if it is too cold for you to stay outside, it’s too cold for your pet to stay outside.
