Prairie South School Board meets to discuss what will happen in the local division when it comes to the education portion of property tax.

We know the City of Moose Jaw is going to charge us more for the municipal portion of taxes this year after a mill rate increase of 2.32 per cent was approved earlier this month. But what will happen with the other portion of our property taxes?

A closed door meeting being held Monday in Moose Jaw as the Prairie South School Board tries to figure out what to do with the local division this year and the education portion of taxes.

With or without school closures, Board Chair Gord Stewart expects a mill rate increase this year. The closures would only bring down the amount of the increase.

An open meeting is expected for Tuesday and that's when we will learn how much taxes will go up.
