Moose Jaw Warriors defenceman Daemon Hunt was cut severly in the arm with a skate blade in the first period of Tuesday night's game in Edmonton, but with quick attention from the Oil Kings medical and training staff, is expected to make a full recovery after arm surgery.

Hunt is expected to be out of the lineup indefinitely.

Warrior general manager Alan Millar released a statement thanking the Oil Kings on behalf of the Warriors for their assistance.

Hunt had 11 assists in 23 games with the Warirors this season, along with six penalty minutes.

He is considered an A prospect for the 2020 NHL Entry Draft by NHL Central Scouting.

The Warriors also acquired defenceman Chase Hartje on waivers from the Winnipeg Ice. Hartje played 31 games for the Warriors in 2017-18, picking up 17 assists before being dealt to the Brandon Wheat Kings as part of the Kale Clague trade.

This past season, he had been playing with the Winnipeg Ice and has two goals and six assists in 22 games.

"We are very pleased to welcome back Chase back to our hockey club," said Millar in a statement on social media. "Chase is a smark player, with good skills, and is an excellent skater. With the injury to Daemon Hunt, chase is an important addition to our team with his experience and skill set."
