On Tuesday afternoon, an air seeder unit struck an overhead sign on Main Street North near the Highway 1 overpass.

The incident resulted in the northbound lanes of Main Street North being closed for over 24 hours and a detour was in place through Diefenbaker Drive.

The farm implement was detached from the overhead sign late Wednesday afternoon thanks to the help of two cranes, which reopened the road.

The question remains, who is responsible for the damage to the sign and equipment used to free the air seeder?

An email from the Ministry of Highways stated, that "the cost of repairs is the responsibility of the operator of the vehicle transporting the load, which is typically covered through insurance."

They wanted to remind truckers and shippers to check the height and dimensions of their load to determine a route to safely transport their goods.
