By 2012 all inefficient light bulbs will be banned in Canada to help cut down on the amount of green house gas produced by making electricity.

Do you use compact fluorescent light bulbs? Soon, it'll be the law. In 2012 Canada will be the second country in the world to ban inefficient light bulbs.

The Conservative government made the announcement this week in an attempt to reduce the amount of electricity we use and in turn reduce green house gases. Palliser MP Dave Batters says the change should be simply and natural. "I was thinking about it as the progression from cassette tapes to CDs and it'll just natural happen. We'll save people a lot of money and really help to reduce our green house gas emissions."

It's estimated that the ban of these old style light bulbs will save over 600 million dollars a year in electrical bills.
