MultiPlex Builders Co-Chair Ray Boughen doesn't understand why we have to wait another six weeks to find out if the federal government is planning to help with the new facility.

It started as "get an application in by December 2006". They did that.

Then it was "wait for the federal budget on March 19th". They did that.

And now it's "wait for another 6 weeks". They can't do that.

A bit of confusion this week as we continue to go over the federal budget and possible funding for the Moose Jaw MultiPlex.

Following the federal budget, Palliser MP Dave Batters told us there is a portion of the budget that allows for 8.8 billion dollars for infrastructure projects across the country with 260 million coming to Saskatchewan. The problem is that it could be 6 weeks until we find out if we get funding for the multiplex.

Builders’ Co-Chair Ray Boughen doesn't understand why they're facing another delay since the money they applied for has nothing to do with 2007. "No it wasn't new money! It was money that was in a program and we're not sure why the federal part of it is kind of slipping on us or seems to be hard for us to get a handle on and move forward. We're getting close to a time where this project has to have some serious planning and its becoming rather critical."

That project that Boughen referred to had a deadline for applications of December 2006 and as Boughen understood it the money was from the 2006 budget year. The fund that Batters talked about is new money for 2007.

Boughen says an application to the province for funding must be complete by the April 30th for the Building Communities Program and we need to know what kind of federal funding is available before we apply to the province.
