Producers and Industry reps are expanding their forage and pasture management skills during this weeks Pasture School in Saskatoon.

Dr. Bart Lardner is with the Western Beef Development Centre and says they've seen a lot of interest this year in forage production:

"Producers are looking at seeding down perennials... versus these annual commodity crops which are just not paying and forages are a good option but we certainly need a set of tools in being able to manage our forage resources whether it is pasture or hay supply for the long term"

Yesterday they focused on grazing principles and stocking rates and today they focus on forage production, economics, animal health and utilization.
