The City of Moose Jaw has already used up more than half of its snow clearing budget for the year.

Director of Financial Services Brian Acker presented the First Quarter 2023 Financial Report to city council last week.

"At the end of March we were at 51 per cent of budget consumed for the year," he explained. "You'll recall in April we had significant snowfall as well. We'll probably will be sitting in the 60 to 65 per cent range of that budget utilized and we still have the other half of the year to go. Potentially, trending to be over budget in that area, although we do have a snow removal reserve, which we would be able to tap into for that overage."

The year-to-date snow removal expense at the end of March was listed at $550,449, with the 2023 budget being set at $1,086,908.
