If you travel the downtown frequently, take note that the pair of eastbound, dual left turn lanes are being removed over the next week. The first will be at the corner of Main and High Street followed by the eastbound lane of Manitoba Street. One eastbound lane will be for turning onto Main Street, the other will be for straight through traffic and the third for turning right; while on Manitoba there will be two straight through lanes in addition to the single left turn lane.

A release from the city explains the change is due to a review that showed the intersections are actually too small to allow for safe use of double turning lanes and that traffic numbers don't warrant the second lane.

Work starts Wednesday and both changes should be complete in a week but there will be minor traffic disruptions.
