The message from the Canada Border Services Agency to American travelers coming to Canada has been ‘Leave Your Guns At Home’.

It appears one man from the United States didn’t get the message before attempting to cross the border at the Coronach port of entry.

The CBSA reported last Tuesday they seized a 9mm pistol from a U.S. resident who was looking to travel through Canada to Alaska. He was arrested, and given a $1,000 penalty for failing to declare the gun to officers.

When entering Canada, all firearms must be declared. If they are not, they may be seized by the CBSA, and criminal charges are possible.
