Carnie's Comments

It was earlier this year when I felt my heart sink. I was reading about Ford Motor Company and their plan to eliminate AM radio from all their new vehicles, starting in 2024.

Obviously, I make a living on AM radio so the news was concerning but also, I've been a loyal Ford customer for over 25 years.  You can imagine how I felt.

Well, good news was delivered last week.

Ford has reversed its plan and will continue to include AM radio in all new Ford and Lincoln vehicles.

Ford CEO Jim Farley made the announcement, stating, "After speaking with policy leaders about the importance of AM broadcast radio as a part of the emergency alert system, we've decided to include it..."

The move to reverse the decision came after some pressure from government officials in the United States.

In fact, Senator Edward J. Markey of Massachusetts said, "AM radio is more than just an essential safety feature - it's a free, accessible source for anyone to listen to music, news, sports and entertainment."

HEAR, HEAR Mr. Senator! HEAR, HEAR!
