Carnie's Comments

We posted the story on the DiscoverMooseJaw social media feeds last week.

One person commented, "You'll never find a better one", another said "Great choice".

They were reacting to the story about Maryse Carmichael being named our new City Manager at Moose Jaw City Hall.

Lt. Col. (Rtd.) Maryse Carmichael,  A member of Canada's Aviation Hall of Fame, was the first woman to fly with the Snowbirds.  She would become Commanding Officer of 431 Squadron, responsible for its fleet of 20 jets and close to 100 personnel.

After retiring from active duty, Carmichael joined CAE where she worked as a Communication and Government Relations Manager and Training Centre Operations Manager, looking after five Canadian CAE Defence and Security Training Centers.

Mayor Clive Tolley calls Carmichael an "exceptional leader...the right person to carry forward the positive momentum Moose Jaw has generated over the last few years".

Let me tell you, as a long-time tax paying and proud citizen of the City of Moose Jaw, I've never felt so confident in the leadership we now have at City Hall.

City Manager Carmichael starts her new job next Tuesday.

If I worked at City Hall, I'd shine my shoes and start walking like I know where I'm going.
