I see a limited-edition, autographed hockey card featuring Warriors defenceman Daemon Hunt in a Team Canada jersey is for sale, online, for $50.00 today.  Apparently, it's all about the money now.

Remember when getting an autograph was all about bragging rights and show-and-tell?

A few of us neighbourhood boys used to write letters to our favourite players and politely request autographed photos.  We got the team addresses in The Hockey News, as I recall.

Among the stars who replied to me were Gilbert Perreault, Rene Robert and Richard Martin - The French Connection!

Gordie Howe, Darryl Sittler, Bobby Orr and Chico Resch also sent me autographed photos.

I suppose I could sell a few of those collectables but I just don't want to.  I like looking through my scrapbooks once in a while.  It brings back good memories of the wonderful childhood I had, idolizing my favourite hockey players.

And, who knows, maybe I'll get another opportunity to show them off in the future.  Do they do show-and-tell at the old folks' home?
