The Moose Jaw and District Chamber of Commerce hosted a candidates' forum Wednesday night for the Prairie South School Division (PSSD) School Board By-Election taking place on March 9th.

Seven of the nine candidates vying for the open trustee position in Subdivision 6 (City of Moose Jaw) attended the forum that was held in the auditorium at A.E. Peacock Collegiate. The event was also live-streamed on the PSSD website.

Candidates in attendance included Sommer Amare, Karli Amundrud, Patrick Boyle, Tony Dreger, Bruce Fritzler, Sandra Kitts, and Brian Martynook. Shelley Jones and Zachariah Bachmann were unable to attend.

Each candidate gave an introduction, answered three pre-submitted questions, and then provided a closing address.

The submitted questions included:

1. What do you see as the role of the board of education?
2. What are your thoughts on the new joint-use school for South Hill students?
3. What strengths would you bring to the board as a trustee?

Advance polls for the by-election will be open at the Prairie South School Division office (1075 9th Ave NW) from 2 pm to 7 pm on February 27th. Regular polls will be open from 9 am to 8 pm on March 9th at Riverview Collegiate, A.E. Peacock Collegiate, and Sunningdale School.
