The City of Moose Jaw is gearing up for thousands of residents to flock downtown to take in the Canada Day festivities on Friday.

Tourism Moose Jaw Executive Director, Jacki L'Hereaux Mason says they will be taking over Crescent Park on Friday, and sharing the space with Park Art.

“We’re going to be closer to the amphitheatre,” says L'Hereaux Mason. “We’re going to run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. We’re going to have entertainment on the stage from 1-4 p.m, various types of entertainers. We will be concluding the entertainment with a ceremony at 4:00 p.m.”

L'Hereaux Mason adds that the city will be putting on a Living Library in the general part of Crescent Park.

“It showcases different organizations within the city and gives people a chance to try it before they buy it sort of thing. Different organizations will set up displays and demonstrations, people can walk around and try different activities and see if there is something that is interesting to them heading towards the fall.”

The city’s festivities at the park will wrap up at around 4:00 p.m., with all attendees receiving cupcakes at the end of the event.

To end the night the Moose Jaw Kinsmen will present their annual Canada Day fireworks display at dusk at Hamilton Flats.

L'Hereaux Mason couldn’t give an exact time on when the fireworks display will begin, but she did say they will provide that information the day of, on the Tourism Moose Jaw Facebook page.
