Caitlyn Dixon's magical makeup touch continues.  The Moose Jaw makeup artist won the Canadian portion of L'Oreal's "The Brush" competition in Toronto on Friday.

"It still hasn't set in," said Dixon on Saturday morning from Toronto. "I was in shock (when they announced her as the winner).  I walked up to the podium and they asked me if I wanted to do a little speech, so I said "I don't even know where to start in thanking people' - I'm so grateful and honoured.  It truly is life-changing."

Dixon was one of five makeup artists selected through online voting to make the Canadian finals of the international competition.  She says she had plenty of confidence once the parameters of the finals were given Friday night.

"The theme was 'Red Carpet' which was perfect.  A 'Red Carpet' look is very glamourous, a classic beauty, something that will give them a lot of presence.  As soon as I heard 'Red Carpet' I said in my head 'yes I've got this'."

Dixon says the next few weeks will be a whirlwind as she prepares for the international finals in Paris. "Big things are in store.  I'll be going to Montreal April 2nd and I'm going to L'Oreal headquarters to meet everyone and experience the product."

Caitlyn will compete against makeup artists from 12 other countries in Paris in May.  The winner will receive a 1-year professional makeup contract worth 100-thousand Euros.
