The Mayor of Assiniboia released a statement on Tuesday regarding resolving the staffing issues at the Assiniboia Union Hospital.

Mayor Sharon Schauenberg says in the release that the city has been working with the provincial government and the Saskatchewan Health Authority to try and resolve the staffing issues and concerns at the hospital.

She continued by saying both parties will continue to work together on a regular basis to resolve all issues at the facility for the residents of Assiniboia and the surrounding area.

Back on August 13, 14, 15, and 18, 2021, the hospital had to shut its Emergency Room doors due to staffing shortages, forcing residents to travel further for medical care.

In early May of 2022, the AUH was forced to only be able to offer emergency services 12 hours each day from 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. On June 12, the AUH opened its ER back up to 24-hour care.
